Job details
Education: College/CEGEP. Work site environment: Dangerous. At heights. Confined spaces. Wet/damp. Noisy. Work setting: Various locations. Commercial. Industrial. Institutional. Tasks: Select, measure, cut, ream and thread pipe. Schedule materials, tools and personnel. Liaise with management, engineers and other trades. Instruct apprentices. Connect piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and control equipment. Installs valves, alarms and associated equipment. Test system for leaks using air or liquid pressure equipment. Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings and flush system. Cut openings for pipe in walls, floors and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines. Install supports, valves, piping and control systems. Measure, cut, thread and bend pipes to required shape and size. Remove and replace worn components and reactivate system. Select type and size of pipe required. Test system for leaks using testing equipment. Weld, braze, cement, solder and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system. Estimate costs and materials. Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Driver's License. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Security and safety: Drug test. Driver's validity licence check. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Own transportation. Willing to travel. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Tight deadlines. Handling heavy loads. Physically demanding. Attention to detail.
